- Description: Very Nice Godar Type Drilled Hematite Plummet - This FINE Hematite Plummet was found at Poverty Point, Louisiana by John M. Stathem sometime in the 1960's. It is drilled at the top and well made. Tom Davis called this plummet a "Godar Type". Plummets are generally agreed to have been a type of "Bolo". Two or Three were tied to cord or leather a couple of feet or more from each other. They were thrown through the air at rising flocks of game birds. This was a very effective method of hunting these birds and a single throw had the potential to bring down several of its targets. This piece is from the collection of John & Robert Stathem of Shreveport, Louisiana. Robert and his father John hunted artifacts in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. It comes with a Tom Davis COA. - Item: SB112 Fort Ancient
- Description: Bone or Antler Drilled Plummet - I had been calling this a Pendant from KY. A good friend of mine called to tell me that he had two almost identical from two different Fort Ancient sites and that it was a Bone or Antler Plummet. I will accept Tracy Hammonds opinion as he is the most prolific Fort Ancient collector and avid hunter that I know and I consider him my personal Fort Ancient expert! It is either bone or antler, and I believe antler. It has been shaped roughly in the shape of a bears tooth. It is drilled from both sides. It was found in Bath County, Kentucky. From our personal collection.
