Description: Superb Conch Shell Weeping Eye Mask Gorget - This shell mask Gorget has it all.  It first has circled eyes, then the weeping eyes that are both forked and zigzagged.  It has a prominent nose feature, a well defined and puckered mouth, the outside of the chin is shaped, and it has a three line speech feature.  It is Solid with no restoration.  This is just a beauty of a mask that is well patinated.  It hails from Tennessee where is was recovered, probably in the early 1960's by Frank Morast, and ardent archaeologist in the banking business in Chattanooga, TN.  Frank was featured in Who's Who #1.  It comes with a Davis COA dated 3-8-2017 that grades it a G-10. Description: Triple Drilled Antler Hair Ornament or Tool - These are Very interesting pieces from the middle to late "Red Ochre Phase".  They are often found in pairs, the holes are ALWAYS oriented the same way.  Some have been found engraved.  Some have straight cuts across the top, some have beveled edge around the top.  Some have been found with a bone through the side holes.  Some have been found with more like a Hairpin through the side Holes.  I know of at least one that was recovered inside a tortoise shell with a bone passing through both the tortoise shell & the Antler piece.  Some have called them Mallets, others believe they are part of a advance indirect percussion knapping kit, due to recent evidence I have came across, I believe them to be a hair ornament!  This one had a beveled edge at top and was recovered as 1/2 of a pair in Simpson County, Kentucky

Description: Shell Necklace and Pendant - This nice Olive Shell Necklace was recovered in Simpson County Kentucky.  It is made up of 18 highly patinated Olive shells ranging in size from about 1 1/8 inch to 2 inches in length.  Attached to these was the shell disc gorget or pendant.  The portion that was recovered has two drilled holes near the edge. (see photos)  If you like shell, here is a nice Kentucky Shell Necklace! Updated Provenance: Found along Red River on Bob Guion Farm by Ronnie Page around 1980.  Part of over 1100 pieces found in the cache.

Description: Very Nice Opossum Trigger Awl -  This nice Trigger Awl was found on the Well Documented and Published Feurt Village Site.  If is labeled "Feurt's Site  F.54."  It is made of Opossum bone and is nicely polished.   The Feurt Village Site is situated about five miles north of the city of Portsmouth, Ohio on the east side of the Scioto River.  The land was once part of the estate of Mr. William C. Feurt, hence the name.  The Feurt Village Mounds and adjacent village located in Scioto County, Ohio were inhabited by peoples belonging to a unique phase in the Fort Ancient Culture. Description: Kentucky Bone Necklace -  This is a very nice Bone Necklace that is made of bird bone.  The individual segments range in length from approx 5/8 to 1 1/2 inches.  The total length of the necklace is approximately 28 inches.  This Fine Necklace was recovered in Estill County, Kentucky and is most likely from the Fort Ancient Culture.  This necklace is a Great study of how the prehistorics made these necklaces.  Several of the bone segments have grooves cut with flint knives where they changed their mind and cut somewhere else.  (see photos)  You will also notice that the ends appear to be beveled.  This is where the beads were grooved with a flint knife and then snapped in two.  This Fine Bone Necklace comes with a Tom Davis COA.  Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington

Description: Grooved Antler Billet from Robertson County Tennessee - Found by Olie Miller in Robertson County, Tennessee.  Both ends are rounded, probably from the flint knapping process.  Handled Billets were used as "knapping" hammers amount other things.  These date from Archaic to Woodland times as Banner Stones, both stone and Antler were found in context with them.  This one has a stress crack (see photos).

Description: Indiana G-10 Bone Fish Hook - This fine bone fish hook was part of a cache of Bone Fish Hooks recovered in Southern Indiana.  The cache originally had a Ben Stermer COA.  This hook I had papered independently.  Comes with a Tom Davis COA grading it a G-10.  A fine example of a Late Woodland or Mississippian fish hook.
