Mitchell, KY.  It was found in Kentucky and is made of Hornstone.  It has VERY nice flaking and the base is WELL ground.   I especially like the thinning strikes across both sides of the base.  This piece is big and wide!  From my collection. Here is a nice BIG Big Sandy!

Description: Kentucky Wayne County Chert Big Sandy - This beautiful Big Sandy found by Donnie McMahan in Taylor County, Kentucky.  It is made of a cream color stripped chert that may be Wayne County Chert.  It has a great tip and symmetry.  The base is ground and it is well flaked.  This one has an ancient Thinning Strike from the base that terminates like a flute. Description: Knox Chert Woodland 3 Notch - This unusual piece was found in Middle Tennessee by Katylina Threet in July 2004.  I am not sure what to call it.  It has 3  notches.  One in either side and one in the base.  It is made a pitted high grade Knox Chert.  It has nice mineral deposits.  There is NO grinding at all which leads me to believe it is probably a Woodland or Mississippian piece.  If you know the Typology of this piece, drop me a line.  Monty

Description: Blue Chert KY Big Sandy - This piece was sold to me years ago as Blue Carter Cave Chert and it may well be.  However, I now believe it may be a Sonora Variant because of the pitted material.  It is a well flaked Big Sandy that has a small ancient tip ding.  I think it was probably needle tipped and it snapped off.  It was found in Bourbon County, KY.  The base is concave and ground.  Ex- Monty Pennington

Description: Highly Translucent E-Notch Big Sandy - Here is a HIGHLY TRANSLUCENT E-Notch Big Sandy made of what I believe to be Pulaski County Chert.  It has VERY nice symmetry and shape.  The base is nicely ground. This piece was a Personal find of Tony Simpson near a rock shelter off Buck Creek, in Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1993.  This type of Big Sandy is rare...... especially when made of such a translucent material.  This fine piece is a nice addition to anyone's side-notch collection.   This piece is pictured in the NEW Overstreet # 11 on page # 366.   Ex- Tony Simpson

Description: Archaic Side Notch  - This piece is no longer for sale.  I got this piece in an authentic collection out of Franklin County, KY.  I have taken another good look at it.  It is an authentic blade........ probably a Benton or Copena Blade....... Someone has "historically" added notches to it.  Sorry I missed it the first time.  A shame!
